Where’s Samantha? is an obstacle course puzzle game. The player’s goal is to help George find Samantha. To do this you will have to go through 45 pre-designed levels with lots of obstacles, and difficult terrain.
George is not discouraged but uses all his talents and skills to find a way to overcome them all. Specifically, this wool roll can split itself. You can split yourself into different small spools of yarn and control them alternately. After overcoming obstacles together, successfully handle a puzzle situation on the road. In the process, you are free to choose whether to split or merge your parts to restore their original appearance. How together, you and the smaller clones can solve the puzzle and proceed to the end of the level.
Speaking of gameplay, Where’s Samantha is not difficult at all. There’s only a touch, button, and navigation. But how to choose, and how to separate the body to cross the terrain is sometimes quite difficult.
When detached you can choose to control any of your little friends from yourself. While you control one of the little friends, the rest of them will snooze, and wait until you touch them to wake up and continue. One thing that keeps repeating itself is these operations.
I find Where’s Samantha’s clone mechanism quite good, but it also takes a lot of time with repetitive activities. If only George could have had some other more active, active skill besides clone, maybe Where’s Samantha? has become a more accessible and enjoyable game.
Obstacles in the world of plush fabric
In the world of Where’s Samantha, all are soft and cute handmade objects. While the main character is a rolling ball of wool, the obstacles on the way are also full of lovely things such as buttons, cloth jumping platforms, combs, rolls of wool or a piece of torn fabric indented to form a wormhole – the usual pitfall of the game.
These obstacles are randomly arranged in the game scenes, so the challenge they bring is quite diverse. You have to learn how to cross the terrain through your body’s ability to merge and separate.
The game speed is quite slow
The moves of the wool reel are a bit slow, so the game speed is also sluggish. The game has a good way of asking questions, the way to play is also quite strange, but showing it out is not very catchy.
In addition to your character being able to move, on the road, there are also quite a few movable obstacles.
George’s journey to find his wife also includes collecting cotton letters. This is mainly to bring bonus points, but it does not contribute anything to the character’s ability to overcome obstacles. Personally, this is a regrettable point. If only the words, when put together, lead to some interesting clue to rescue his wife, things would be much more dramatic.
Unique Clone Ability
Needless to say, there has never been a mobile game I’ve played that gives the character the ability to clone. And so despite the grit in the pacing and the feeling of repetition, the clone experience is pretty good.
When separated into clone versions, these little wool friends will help the character in many situations. For example, George has to go through a door, but the switch to open the door is far behind. So you have to split the two so that one half holds the switch, the other half goes through the door and then holds another switch so the other half goes through the door.
Split copies of wool rolls are always different in shape, color, and size. The feeling of looking forward to each clone also creates excitement when playing. Each of George’s clones has its own unique abilities and personality. Learning and understanding these points both help you to overcome obstacles better and add a little spice to the game.
When playing Where’s Samantha, you don’t need to put too much emphasis on survival. There is no blood, nor any backup network. Flexible respawn points save players a lot of time and effort previously spent, and are also less boring than the game forces them to go back from the beginning.
